About

Jerry Housh is a Minneapolis based artist working in oil across figures, landscapes, and cityscapes. His work is driven by an interest in light and feeling.
Jerry has been making things as long as he can remember. His creativity began in childhood with colored pencils, stop-motion animation, and photography. It continued to move across mediums before narrowing to oil painting within the last couple of years.
Oil paint became the focus after he began following contemporary artists and grew fascinated with the possibilities of the medium.
Jerry is at an early stage of a serious painting practice. What unifies the work is an attention to light, the feeling of a place or a moment, and the narrative that emerges between the two. He is mostly self-taught, working from books and online resources, with workshops and classes when he can get to them. He is inspired by the work of contemporary painters including Christina Kent, Carl Bretzke, Bill Davidson, Patrick Okrasinski, and Peter Keegan.
